On The Move with Wayne White – Week #25

On The Move with Wayne White - Week #25

Although it was a rainy day, a large crowd and numerous food vendors packed under a huge canopy brought a smile to event organizer Julie Thurgood. Julie is a partner with Brews and Entertainment and her role was in marketing and public relations for this event.

Julie reported that “attendance was fantastic and it was amazing to include restaurants located throughout Orangeville this year instead of just those who are located downtown. There was such a variety of food that was showcased and allowed people to sample all our great venues. This year it was great to have Sounds of Orangeville showcasing local music throughout the downtown”.

Inside the tent, there were eleven restaurants each of which offered at least two choices at their assigned table. When Wanda and I arrived at 1:45 there were long lineups and some vendors had run out of food. On a positive note Julie stated that vendors running out of food demonstrated the popularity of Orangeville’s Food Festival.

In partnership with the Food Festival Soulyve was offering their inaugural “Caribfest” within the confines of their outdoor patio deck and parking lot. They showcased Caribbean culture, music, art, fashion, dance and food.

Orangeville’s BIA closed Broadway so that local musicians could showcase their talent throughout the downtown core. I did stop to enjoy one of my local favourites, Graham Maycock. It was drizzling so Broadway was rather quiet as we strolled back to our car. I always enjoy walking down Broadway without traffic. It gives the downtown a very special and unique feel for pedestrians.

Wayne On The Move just ran 7K at Island Lake so I’m moving rather slowly as I type up this week’s blog on Sunday morning. It was great seeing so many boats on the lake and runners, walkers and families inside the park and on the trails.
