On The Move With Wayne - Rotary Club Tree Planting

The Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands planted trees at the new location of Bravery Park on Saturday morning in an effort to support Rotary International’s initiative to plant 1.2 million trees worldwide. Members of the Orangeville Rotary Club, along with volunteers, planted 500 trees and shrubs at Montgomery Park.

Saturday was a beehive of activity. Along with the tree planting, crews of volunteers were busy participating in the annual “Make Orangeville Shine” program sponsored by the Orangeville Rotary Club. Throughout town, numerous bags were spotted along roadsides validating the strong efforts of those who participated in the collection of litter.

The Farmer’s Market moved outdoors for the first time this spring. Shoppers were treated to pancakes, great weather and enthusiastic vendors.

Outdoor patios are now springing up along Broadway and on Mill Street-a  true sign that spring has finally arrived. Enjoying a cold beverage along with a hot meal outside while soaking up the sun is a great way to spend part of your weekend.

On Sunday there were two charity walks. MS walk started early Sunday morning at Montgomery Village Public School followed by the Hike for Hospice Dufferin which started at the Monora Park Pavilion at 12:00 noon and concluded by 3:30 pm.

Mike Mullin and I are both members of the Orangeville Lions Club. We will be busy working at the Seven Bridges Run on Saturday May 12 and we hope to see you there for a 5 or 10 k run.
