With fresh snow falling on Monday morning, Wanda, Sydney and I couldn’t resist going for a walk at Island Lake Trail. We were joined by Derek Spencer and his dog Baxter. Derek’s claim to fame is that he never misses a day of walking the trails. He is often asked if the trails are open in the winter and he is a prime example that the trails can indeed be enjoyed year round.
The gentle falling snow coupled with the delicate hoar frost embracing the branches of trees helped create some very attractive scenery which I tried to capture with my camera. We are so lucky to have this trail system which is located on the edge of town. With appropriate footwear and layers of clothing, the elements shouldn’t be a factor in preventing anyone from enjoying a day at the lake.
I do encourage everyone to bundle up and take a leisurely stroll at Island Lake. It provides a great opportunity to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature. The trail is also a great place to ride the ever popular fat tire bikes, cross country ski and snowshoe. Hopefully, I will see you on the move!
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I will soon be sharing my favourite photos of events and people of 2017 while I was “On the Move” for the Mullin Group.
