Week #36 The World According To Wayne White

Week #36 The World According To Wayne White

On Saturday, October 22 the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands hosted their 22nd annual Taste of Autumn in support of eradicating polio and their local project the new Island Lake Conservation Area’s new outdoor amphitheatre. The amphitheatre is in the final stages of construction which involves the addition of a soft covered roof.

Over one hundred guests enjoyed a highly entertaining evening at Hockley Valley Resort located in Mono for the Taste of Autumn. Upon arrival guests were treated to “Canape Service” which included pears and prosciutto, mozzarella cups, poutine boxes and squash fitters. The meal was truly first class with salami and cheese boards on each table followed by fall leaves, fileto, spiced apple crumble and coffee served with chocolate truffles. During the meal guests were encourage to bid on silent auction items that were generously donated by local businesses. There was such a wide variety of items that it was such an easy task to get caught up in bidding on more than one item.

The live auction was hosted by John Lockyer who managed to get all but one of the items for the listed price as outlined in the program. The live auction items ranged from an evening of wine tasting to a patio barbeque. The success of the live auction was due in part to John Lockyer’s motivational skills and timely sense of humor.

After the conclusion of the live and silent auction items “Old School” took center stage and with their vast repertoire of music made for a highly entertaining evening. The dance floor was always full.

My congratulations to the Orangeville Rotarians for hosting such a successful event and I’m truly looking forward to the 23 rd annual Taste of Autumn.
