After watching my two granddaughters, Nahla and Maliah, take skating lessons Wanda and I loaded the two girls into the back of our “Mini Mullin Photographer” car and took them to Kay Cee Gardens to see the spectacular Orangeville Optimist Club’s light display.
Nahla and Maliah were mesmerized by colorful lights hanging from the trees but were quickly captivated by the displays that allowed them to poke their heads through for photos. They rushed from one display to the next being rather vocal that I needed to take their photos. Even our dog Sydney got into the action and had her picture taken in one of the displays. Their enthusiasm speaks volumes about how captivating the displays are and how the “Lights in the Park’ has become one of Orangeville’s signature events.
I was most impressed with Nahla and Maliah being able to point out to us the new displays that have been added this year. The Orangeville Optimist Club isn’t resting on their laurels and are always trying to make their event bigger and better each year. Their list of activities such as pictures with Santa and story reading are constantly being updated on their Facebook page.
The fresh fallen snow was certainly an added bonus to our visit to the park. The lights sparkled against the snow and certainly created the winter wonderland atmosphere that we got to enjoy during our visit.
As a reward for helping me with this week’s blog we took the girls to Tim Horton’s to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a donut of their choice. It was a special evening we shared with our girls and we have the Orangeville Optimist Club to thank for helping us create special memories with them.
